Julianna

Full transcription coming soon. The entire audio interview is available above.

Julianna is a college student studying vocal performance to become a professional opera singer.

“I used to feel really guilty about wanting to be a musician…But during this time, so many people have music, TV shows, listening, like, making their own music as a form of comfort, and that sounds corny, but I think there, like, um, music is a comfort for people, and it like speaks to people when words fail.”

Interview highlight:

“I used to feel really guilty about wanting to be a musician because, it’s like, I’m not actually doing anything, like, my family is making the world better, like my sister works with refugees and I feel like I wasn’t doing anything. But during this time, so many people have music, TV shows, listening, like, making their own music as a form of comfort, and that sounds corny, but I think there, like, um, music is a comfort for people, and it like speaks to people when words fail . . . which I know people have said before, but I didn’t really get it until now.”
